NC Graduation Projects

OVERVIEW: The North Carolina Graduation Project is a multi-faceted,multi-disciplinary performance assessment completed over time. The NC Graduation Project provides students the opportunity to connect content, knowledge, acquired skills, and work habits to real world situations and issues. Through the graduation project process, students will engage various specific skills that include: computer knowledge, employable skills, information-retrieval skills, language skills –reading, language skills – writing, teamwork, and thinking/problem-solving skills. The NC Graduation Project consisting of four components (a research paper, product, portfolio, and an oral presentation) culminates in a student's final year of high school.Student engagement in the graduation project process and the completion of the graduation project demonstrates the integration of knowledge,skills, and performance.
 

 
Important Dates:


English IV

Jan. 31 - distribute GP information

Feb. 6 - mentor and product proposals submitted

March 29 – products & portfolios due

April 5- portfolios & products returned

April 17 - product & portfolio resubmissions

All English IV students will practice their Graduation Project presentations in front of another class on this day during their English IV class. Mock presentations are required. If absent, the student will have to present when they return.
Mock Presentation Day TBA
All English IV students will be presenting on this day. They should plan to stay after school until their scheduled presentation time. Please review the process and dress code outlined in the Graduation Project manual.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:
Equipment Use:
The media center will no longer loan out cameras and video equipment to students due to breakage and theft. If you need to take pictures or video for a presentation, speak with Mrs. Sasser to schedule a time for her to assist you.

Media Center Time:
The Media Center is a great resource for your NCGP. However, students should not wait until the last week before a paper, product or portfolio is due to seek help.

CD's & DVD's:
If you need a CD or DVD for an element of your NCGP, the library has them for sale.
CD's are $1.00 & DVD's are $2.00
